Gatehouse Community Centre coffers have been topped up by £1,590 – courtesy of Gatehouse Carpet Bowling Club.
The club used the centre for a number of years and when it folded several years ago £2,355 was left in the bank.
In 2019 the club treated local senior citizens to Christmas lunch in the Murray Arms and in a Christmas gift donated the balance to the community centre to cover the cost of new curtains for the hall.
The club also plans to donate its historic silverware – the Borness Cup, the Stenhouse Cup and the Anwoth Cup – to the Stewartry Museum in Kirkcudbright.
All the trophies were gifted to the club, which hopes they will be displayed at the museum for years to come.
Annie Margaret Johnstone and Willie McSkimming handed the cheque over to community centre chairman Peter Taylor on behalf of the bowling club.
Mr Taylor said: “The new curtains have brightened up our hall and helped make the space a warm, comfortable and welcoming environment for all our users – especially for our winter open house sessions.”
