The cast of a highly successful show at The Fullarton in Castle Douglas have donated profits from a special calendar to charity.
A musical production of Calendar Girls – inspired by the very first “alternative” Women’s Institute – was a huge hit.
The cast also posed, discreetly, for their own calendar called “in their natural environment”, the generosity of the public seeing the fantastic sum of £1,050 raised.
The money was shared between Marie Curie Cancer Care, Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support – all of which are very active charities in Dumfries and Galloway.
The cheques were recently presented by the cast to Sheila Maddison, representing Cancer Research UK and Isobel Riddick, representing Macmillan Cancer Support. A cheque is also going to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
One critic from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) said of the cast: “Each one of them told their own story whilst showing the deep friendship that brings people together in support of each other in a small community.”
Proof of that is demonstrated by the donations which help support patients and their families as they face cancer together.
