An extremely talented musical family will be playing their traditional Scottish music at a fundraising concert in Dumfries next month.

The Shand Family Show concert will take place at Dumfries Baptist Church Centre on Saturday, April 8.

The event is being held to raise funds for the cancer support group, Prostate Buddies D&G.

The Shands – Clelland, 17, Blythe, 16, and Inver, 15, will be supported by numerous local artistes, including singers Leona Mason, Kyla Shortt and Daisy Cochrane.

Karen Little’s Highland Dancers, pianist Beth Cubbin, piper Kenny Prentice, the Buccleuch & Queensberry Caledonian Pipe Band and the Nithsdale Singers choir are also involved.

The trio have featured on BBC Radio Scotland’s Take The Floor programme and have gained great success at a variety of national and world accordion competitions over the years.

They were recently honoured with an invitation to play for King Charles and the Queen Consort in Dunfermline.

Prostate Buddy and show organiser, Robert Copland, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to see and hear these three brilliant youngsters as they set off on their musical careers.

“Whether you are into Scottish traditional music or not, it’s a show not to be missed and you are guaranteed to be highly entertained. Prostate Buddies D&G are deeply indebted to the family for putting on this show for free and we hope the youngsters get the support they deserve, with a full house.”

Tickets for the show are £12 and are available from Dumfries Midsteeple Booking office or online at Ticket Source. Under-16s go free.
