The countdown to the 91st Guid Nychburris festival is under way after the principals were unveiled this week.
Wednesday night saw the preparations for the summer celebrations step up a gear with a reception held at The Usual Place to announce those who will be taking lead roles.
Guid Nychburris Festival Association chairman John Caskie welcomed everyone to the event as Ava Nosratzadeh from St Joseph’s College was named as the Queen of the South elect.
Her attendants on the big day will be Niamh Stainthorpe and Eva Hope with Sophia Earle and Jessica McLean her key bearers and the singer, Louise Jones.
Taking on the role of cornet this year is Robert Wyllie and his lass is Ellie McKean.
Rory Boyd, Hamish Carr, Todd Clark and Chris Irving will be the lynors with Sebastion Willis Fleming named as the pursuivant, and his men are Craig Drummond, David McCulloch, Henry Baggot and Nick Charteris.
Will Green and Ross Findlater are the couriers for this summer’s big event.
Dates for the ride outs, hosted by the Dumfries Cornets Club, will be announced in due course as well as the full catalogue of events leading up to Guid Nychburris Day which takes place on Saturday, June 17.
