The region’s FitSteppers had a ball with Strictly Come Dancing professional Ian Waite at the Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries on Saturday.
The dance and exercise programme was created by Ian and Natalie Lowe from the hit BBC TV show and Olympic swimmer Mark Foster.
It uses ballroom and Latin steps incorporated into easy to follow and upbeat dance fitness routines suitable for all ages and
abilities.
Georgetown twins Jayd and Jenna Flager, who are exceptional dancers themselves, run successful FitSteps classes locally, with six sessions each week in the town at Locharbriggs, Noblehill, Dumfries Baptist Church Centre and Bannatyne’s.
The sisters, who have a wealth of experience in the dance world and the trophies to prove it, were thrilled to bring Ian to Dumfries and took part in the three-hour event themselves.
Proud of their members who put in all the jive, quickstep, rumba and tango moves to name a few, they said: “Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and for all your support, we really appreciate it more than we can ever
say.
“Huge thank you to FitSteps @ianwaite, Easterbrook Hall, The Wedding Room, Celebrations Balloon and Party Supplies, Denise Flager, Walter Flager, Tracey Boyd and Graeme Boyd – we couldn’t have done without you.”
Ian partnered many celebrities such as Zoé Ball during his time on the Strictly Come Dancing series and continued to appear on follow up shows on BBC2 until 2021, and proved a real favourite with the region’s FitSteppers.
As well as showing their moves, and enjoying the performances from Ian, Jayd and Jenna, the Fitsteppers also had a Q&A session with the professional dancer and there were plenty of photo opportunities.
