Scheme Summary
FOOTPATH AND DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT WORKS ON A76 SANQUHAR COMMENCE 23rd JANUARY
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking daytime works to improve the footpaths and drainage along the A76, between Sanquhar Library and Sanquhar Toll Booth, from Monday 23rd January 2023 for 12 weeks. The works will be carried out using short, phased footpath and carriageway closures between 8am and 5pm, each day. Access for pedestrians and adjacent properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the works.
Localised parking bay restrictions will be implemented on a rolling basis as the work progresses along the carriageway.
This work marks the final phase of improvement works on the trunk road network in Sanquhar. The scheme will benefit around 4,500 vehicles travelling this route each day and will benefit pedestrians and other road users by improving the condition of the footpaths on this section of the main road through Sanquhar village. The work also takes into consideration requests from the community council to upgrade the drainage system along the footway.
Works will be carried out using temporary traffic lights, and a signed diversion will not be required. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
We would like to thank road users and the community for their patience, understanding and co-operation while this essential work takes place.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
